Oman is a hidden gem among the sparkling diamonds that often escapes the notice of even seasoned travellers. Our food at Monsoon Stillorgan tells a beautiful story about this amazing festival, with a rich heritage, spectacular mountains, wind-blown deserts, and an immaculate coastline. We serve mildly spiced dishes on a variety of platters that are perfectly roasted. Eating in our lovely cottage is a truly multicultural experience, with Irish culinary influences mingling with traditional meal.
We celebrated the Onam Festival in grand style at Monsoon Stillorgan. It's the biggest festival in Kerala, India's southernmost state, and it's celebrated with zeal by all Malayalees around the world.
To welcome the mythical and righteous king: King Mahabali, we have rolled out the traditional flower carpet called 'Pookalam,' which is a quintessential element of Onam, and dressed up in traditional 'Mundu' (Men's garment worn around the waist) and 'Saree' (women's garment).
Onam is not complete without the traditional vegetarian feast - Onam Sadhya. It is served on a banana leaf with a colourful array of vegetarian curries, rice, and desserts. The celebration begins on Attam and concludes on Thiruvonam. We serve Onam palaharangal, also known as snacks, at Monsoon Stillorgan, which includes unniappam, neyyappam, vettucake, orappam, avalose unda, mixture, murukku to conclude the onam festivities.
